FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a Safety Advisor?

  • Event organisers have a legal responsibility to plan, manage and monitor the event to make sure that workers and visiting public are not exposed to health and safety risks. (HSE)

Can anyone be a Safety Advisor?

  • The law says " you must get help from a competent person to enable you to meet the requirements of health and safety law. A competent person is someone who has sufficient training and experience or knowledge and other qualities that allow them to assist you properly. The level of competence required will depend on the complexity of the situation and the particular help you need."
  • We have Event specific qualifications, knowledge and experience.

Can I not do this myself?

  • It is common practice that due to the complexity of events that no one person should manage the event themselves.
  • Depending on the size of event you should look at creating a small team who would then manage certain aspects of the event.
  • We can help you with advise or under take a specific task or role.

Managing an event it's not that complicated!

Depending on the event you could have a requirement for;

  • The legal requirement of keeping everyone safe
  • legal licences (raised structures, food selling, trading, alcohol, public entertainment, inflatables, marquees)
  • permission to use the land
  • traffic management (how do people get to the event and where do the people park once there)
  • crowd management (people attending your event and also people not attending your event but using the same public spaces)
  • medical cover
  • welfare provision
  • stewarding/ marshals (keeping your event safe and also attendees)

This is just a few examples of what the organiser has to factor in their management of the event.

  • We have Event specific experience and knowledge to help you with these and many other event requirements.

I can't afford to hire a Safety Advisor

  • What price do you put on Reputation and reputational damage (yours / the company)?

  • With many Local Authorities now requiring more evidence of your ability to provide a safe event and the legal requirements that need to be met, this all takes time. What would you prefer to spend your time on developing the content and promotion of your event or the event documentation?
